Collaboration

Amy was retained by Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2) to secure bipartisan sponsors and build the business coalition that became the face of the HB17-1227. This bill extended the public utilities electric demand-side management program. Keeping the business coalition on message in the face of strong opposition by anti-public utility opponents was challenging however, we prevailed on the last day of the legislative session with a powerful business presence, strategic bill sponsor, rapid-fire vote counting, and procedural maneuvering to pass the bill on an 18-17 vote in the Colorado Senate. The bill was signed into law by Governor Hickenlooper.

Continued Success

Over 18 months, Amy engaged the City of Longmont Council and staff, business leaders and chambers, the health and wellness community, and public safety officials to lift the ban on marijuana sales in the City of Longmont.

When she began, just two council members were in support and much of the staff was opposed. Through thoughtful and respectful engagement, Attwood brought the City staff on board, wrote the draft municipal code that is now in place, and ultimately, by a vote of 5-2 Longmont City Council lifted the ban with the full support of the city manager and staff.

Community Engagement

Amy has successfully lobbied many bipartisan issues, representing public, nonprofit, and private entities. From local government to business to education, She has lobbied legislators from all sides and has a proven record of success through a strong network across the state with city council members, town trustees, and county commissioners. Having worked on issues from Greeley to Durango and Rifle to Pueblo, community engagement and mobilization around client issues is a specialty of Attwood Public Affairs. Knowing who the right person is to carry the message to influence decision-makers is how public policy and community goodwill is accomplished.
